Bukowski…

Been really into Bukowski again lately, it’s impossible with out an essay to explain how his writing makes me feel. He truly is one of the best writers that ever lived. Here’s a few quotes that I find particularly meaningful:
“there is a place in the heart that
will never be filled
a space
and even during the
best moments
and
the greatest times
we will know it
we will know it
more than
ever
there is a place in the heart that
will never be filled
and
we will wait
and
wait
in that space.”
“Unless it comes out of
your soul like a rocket,
unless being still would
drive you to madness…
don’t do it.
unless the sun inside you is
burning your gut,
don’t do it.
when it is truly time,
and if you have been chosen,
it will do it by itself
and it will keep on doing it
until you die or it dies in you.
there is no other way.
and there never was.”
“I wanted the whole world or nothing.”
“What matters most is how well you walk through the fire.”
“Any asshole can chase a skirt, art takes discipline.”
“How in the hell could a man enjoy being awakened at 8:30 a.m. by an alarm clock, leap out of bed, dress, force-feed, shit, piss, brush teeth and hair, and fight traffic to get to a place where essentially you made lots of money for somebody else and were asked to be grateful for the opportunity to do so? “
