New Kanye single premiered last night on the VMAs! Here it is:
Also tell me Travis and DJ AM didn’t do an outstanding job being the house band last night!? MTV Should’ve given them more air time if you ask me. Their mixtape is incredible if you haven’t gotten it yet download it here: http://www.trvsdjam.com/download.php?
Two days ago ago super producer and musical genius Jerry Finn died. This came as a huge shock to me. Jerry Finn has always been one of my musical idols and heroes. He has easily worked on more than half of the records I have bought since I was 14. He produced some of my favorite records of all time, Blink-182 self-titled for starters as well as Enema of the State, which was the first record I ever bought. My most sincere condolences go out to his friend and family that were lucky enough to know him. I’m going to miss seeing his name printed on the cd jackets I buy.
And on a personal note, it’s always weird when one of your musical idols passes away. Jerry Finn was someone I always aspired to work with and meet one day with any luck. And now knowing that he has passed I only have the memories of the art he helped create. He left behind quite the resume and legacy if you ask me and I only wish he could’ve been around a lot longer to please my ears even more.
This is a interesting article featuring Gregg Gillis known more popularly as Girl Talk who just released his second album using the pay what you want system entitled Feed The Animal. It goes into some depth about music sampling and the laws surrounding it as well as some inside info on Mr. Gillis himself. He leads the new age of Avant-Garde music making based mostly in electronic music. I find this a very interesting concept and obviously something my musical project Side by Side takes a thing or two from… minus the sampling of pop culture songs of course. But more so the mind set of this genre of artists, anyway check out the article it’s a good read. And here is a video of Mr. Gillis showing a video crew very quickly about how he starts a song, pretty crazy stuff:
Here are some numbers for everyone about how The Dark Knight’s box office sales are doing as of today and what they are expected to be come the end of the weekend. Everyone should see this film, for real.
My amazing girlfriend found this video and I couldn’t help but want to show this to as many people as humanly possible. PS- sorry for the lack of blogging I have been out of what we call the World Wide Web for a week or two now and I am currently stealing signal to post this… yes I am a virtual outlaw. Enjoy:
My life is one step closer to complete after the other night. I saw The Cure live at the Bobcats Arena. 12th row watching Robert Smith in all his glory blast through three and a half hours of music from every era of the band imaginable. It was one of the most beautiful experiences of my whole life. The highlight of the night for me was when they played “Letter To Elise” one of my all time favorite Cure songs and one they haven’t been playing on this tour very often. It was such a surreal night. I whole heatedly believe everyone should have a concert experience such as the one I had, it’s an unbelievable feeling. Thank you Robert Smith.
Even though Mark Hoppus and Tom Delonge have gone their separate ways they both stay honest and true to their separate visions. And there aren’t many musicians in this day and age that can convey that so well in their music and in their every day lives. And that is why I find this video so inspirational…
"If you're going to try, go all the way. Otherwise don't even start. This could mean losing girlfriends, wives, relatives, jobs. And maybe your mind. It could mean not eating for three or four days. It could mean freezing on a park bench. It could mean jail. It could mean derision. It could mean mockery, isolation. Isolation is the gift. All the others are a test of your endurance. Of how much you really want to do it. And you'll do it, despite rejection in the worst odds. And it will be better than anything else you can imagine. If you're going to try, go all the way. There is no other feeling like that. You will be alone with the gods. And the nights will flame with fire. You will ride life straight to perfect laughter. It's the only good fight there is." -Charles Bukowski
